Cabot remains one of Arkansas "fastest growing cities and does a pretty good job of keeping that secret, despite what many people, even those in the vicinity, seem to think. The school district is the county's largest employer, and the school rankings are beguiling, but there's a small-town charm that keeps thrilling you. If you live in Cabot City, Arkansas or one of the other small towns in the Arkansas River Valley, you can keep the small town charm if you love it.
One of the reasons for this growth is the aforementioned air base, although there is an even greater growth factor. During the Civil War, a large Confederate encampment called Camp Nelson was built nearby, and the area was taken over by the US Army Corps of Engineers and later the Arkansas Army National Guard. The highest-rated school district in Arkansas, Cabot City High School, is one of only four schools with more than 1,000 students.
